Eugene Haydu has been a licensed attorney in California for more than thirty years. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked for ten years as a journeyman carpenter in commercial construction including work while in law school. For nearly twenty years he operated a boutique law firm specializing in construction defect litigation, Mobile Home Residency Law and real estate fraud. Mr. Haydu is uniquely qualified to mediate cases as he has worked as both a plaintiff and a defense lawyer. For six years he worked as insurance defense panel counsel representing contractors. He also has decades of experience representing the interest of homeowner associations, commercial businesses, individuals, developers, contractors and building designers.
Experience in the art of mediation has come primarily from Mr. Haydu’s practice as a lawyer representing clients. Over the years he has acted as an advocate for his clients in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. He has acted as a mediator for El Dorado County Superior Court as a judge pro tem, and he has worked with a variety of mediators in his years as an advocate for his clients.
In preparation for becoming a full-time mediator, Mr. Haydu completed a forty-hour certificate program with the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. This nationally ranked program is presented by the Caruso School of Law at Pepperdine University. The training was provided by a pre-eminent faculty of nationally known mediators who worked with the participants in an interactive program.
